The Wisconsin Conference started the Wisconsin Foundation UCC to support the fundraising efforts of the Conference, the congregations in the Conference, and closely related agencies such as the United Church Camps, Inc. (UCCI). Reflective of this intention, the Foundation adopted as its mission, “Wisconsin Foundation UCC, Inc., is a catalyst for positive change in the life of the United Church of Christ in Wisconsin, promotes a culture of generosity, and connects people across the UCC in working for a more just world.”
Several people stepped forward to lead the new Foundation. Conference Minister Franz Rigert will lead the new board of the Foundation. Bret Bicoy joins him as Vice-Chair. Bret leads the Community Foundation of Door County and provided invaluable strategic guidance of the conference board of directors in the process of forming the Foundation. Rev. Leslie Schenk, drawing on her experience as an economist, will serve as treasurer, and Steve Hirby, a retired gift officer with Lawrence University, will be the secretary. Paul Karch, a respected Madison lawyer, and Rev. Jim Hollister will round out the board.
The Foundation will be led by the Rev. Andrew Warner, director of development for the Wisconsin Conference. Andrew also serves the national church as a Generosity Outreach Officer. In both capacities, Andrew brings a depth of fundraising knowledge to his work.
