Preaching Generosity Webinar Series: Session #1 – The Season of Epiphany: Disciples and Generosity

Tuesday, January 14th, 2020

It can be hard to talk about money.  And yet Jesus talked about it often, second only to the Kingdom of God.  Join Andrew Warner in an exploration of how to preach and teach about generosity and the use of our financial resources.  Each webinar will focus on a specific liturgical season and a set of readings.  We will plan out at least one preaching opportunity for teaching generosity as a spiritual practice.

The Season of Epiphany: Disciples and Generosity
Webinar Jan. 14th – 2:00 pm Central
Register here

We’ll look at how the call of the first disciples (Matthew 4: 12-23) and/or Micah 6:1-8 help illuminate generosity as part of our discipleship.  This focus may work particularly well for a sermon in advance of a congregational annual meeting.

Other webinars in the series:

The Season of Lent: A Changed Life
Webinar Feb. 25th, 2:00 pm Central

Using the story of Nicodemus, we’ll see how increasing generosity created change in his life.  We’ll look beyond the lectionary reading to consider the other two appearances of Nicodemus.  The story will focus attention on what it means to experience change in our lives.

The Season of Easter: Beloved Community
Webinar April 21st – 2:00 pm Central

The stories of Good Shepherd Sunday (May 3) speak to what it means to live generously in community (Acts 2: 42-47, Ps. 23, and John 10: 1-10).  This Sunday offers a chance to think broadly about the many forms of generosity and they ways in which they reinforce community.

Each webinar should last an hour and thirty minutes.
