Earth Day Every Day!

Date & Time: Saturday April 27, 2024 from 10 am – 3 pm

Location:  Middleton Community Church UCC, 645 Schewe Rd, Middleton, WI(off Old Sauk Road on the west side of Madison)

On the Saturday after Earth Day, we’re hosting a Community Sustainability Fair and EV Car Show.  This family-friendly event includes free admission, free popcorn, free drawings (including an electric lawn mower!), live music, and activities for kids, as well as dozens of exhibitors, speakers, and owner-shown electric cars!  Lunch & ice cream will be available for purchase from local food trucks.

Middleton Community Church held its first Sustainability Fair in 2022, and it’s grown since then!  Last year we had a little over 300 people at the fair, with lots of great exhibitors and presenters, owner-shown electric cars and electric lawn equipment, as well as games, face painting, and a bounce house for the kids.  I know this year will be great as well – the live band Bob’s Your Uncle is eager to return, Antsy Pants Paints will do face painting, Bcycle is bring electric bikes for fairgoers to try out, and the zoo will be doing presentations with live animals!  We’d like to invite you to be part of it!  Come and bring your family and friends for a fun and inspiring day.

We also welcome volunteers (contact Carol Phelps), and if you have an electric vehicle you’d like to show at the fair this year please sign up at: https://bit.ly/EDED2024EVsignup

Presenters this year will talk about a wide variety of topics, including New Clean Technology, Electric Vehicles, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Youth Climate Action, Alternative Transportation Resources in Dane County, and Accessing IRA Funds.  Mayor Emily Kuhn will also talk about the City of Middleton’s commitment to sustainability and the city’s progress in that area.

Our current exhibitor lineup includes: Dane County Humane Society Wildlife Center, Madison Children’s Museum, Madison Area Food Pantry Gardens, Green Box Composting, Madison Natural Lawn, Redeemer UCC (prairies), RENEW Wisconsin, Focus on Energy, Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change, MGE, Middleton Sustainability Committee, 350 Wisconsin, KEEP (K-12 Energy Education), Solarshare Coop, RoundTrip, Metro Transit, Middleton Public Library (environmental books),  Sauk Prairie Solar Schools, Faiths Connect for Climate Action, and Flicker Wild Church.  We’re encouraging all the exhibitors to bring something interesting for families to see, learn, or interact with, so be sure to check out all the displays!
