Virtual Ordination? You bet! Read the story of the Rev. Dana Caldwell’s ordination.
This email came to us from Conrath Congregational UCC in Northwestern Wisconsin. Conrath counts membership of under 30.
“This week I set up a church Zoom account for Pastor Dave. I then created and sent all correspondence to both church’s members on how to set up their personal Zoom account and then join on Sunday!
I am so happy to say that we got 21 sign-ins, with approximately 30 members (not including 5? kids). At least 5 families were traveling and not able to get all the logistics worked out for this week. We certainly have a few members who don’t have access to the internet or need help. We are going to do our best to help meet the needs of those who will have no face-to-face contact with us.
Your email with the message about the Zoom grant is what prompted me to know we needed to just get this started. There was some hesitation by a couple of people regarding the work that would be involved. There was no time to sit around considering it, so I said I would take care of everything. It was quite a bit this week, but now we have it all set up and are good to go!
It is strange to consider that this is how we are worshiping together, I am but glad that we are able to still meet in community and see one another and our pastor. I know others are as well.
We are grateful to the donor of the grant and thankful for all the work the conference is doing. It’s been a blessing to me.
Peace and blessings,
