Associate Conference Minister
Farewell Thanks from Rev. Joanne Thomson
Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Southwest Wisconsin Association,
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the honor of having served you as Associate Conference Minister for these past four years;and for our ministry together in so many ways during the 14 years before that in my role as Conference staff person for “various other things.”
Many of you have heard me say that the local congregation is the heart of the United Church of Christ. I believe that with all of my heart. I hope that I have been able to be of help to you as leaders and members of congregations as you have tried in your generation to “make this faith your own.”
As you know, it’s part of our code of separation ethics as pastors that we, well, separate. The role of an ACM is different from that of a pastor of a local church, but the Division of Church and Ministry and I understand that I will not be a part of the institutional life of the Association or Conference for at least the first year of the ministry of my successor, and that the Association, Conference, and I will continue to observe healthy boundaries after that. I thank you for the expressions of thanks and the good wishes expressed in notes, emails, and in person at Conference annual meeting and the Mallards game shindig. God is still speaking.
In faith and hope,
Rev. Lorraine Ceniceros will begin as Associate Conference Minister serving the SW Association on August 1.
