Paul Nixon, co-author of Weird Church, will be our workshop leader for the 2017 Thursday Workshop.  Paul is the founder of Epicenter Group, which coaches leaders to discern ways forward for relevant, community-based Christianity.

Participants will gain knowledge and acquire tools in three key areas, to use in their home churches.

Section 1: Weird Church – Gain an understanding of the critical shifts church leaders need to live into in order to reach the thrilling future that is possible. Get a glimpse of inspiring ministry models to expand your imagination of what is possible.

Section 2: Readiness 360 – Learn about Readiness 360, a tool that helps leaders to look deep within their congregations to address the issues that really drive vital, growing ministry and enable congregations to multiply their church’s impact.

Section 3: Mission Possible – Play an interactive game to learn human centered design thinking for social change. Design thinking is used to spur creativity and to help us think differently about the challenges and opportunities we face in ministry. Design thinking can be used to consider issues and resolve problems more broadly than with traditional thinking. Participants take a set of “dealt” resources” and create the most transformative or creative solution possible to a complex social problem.

This workshop will be highly valuable for pastors, lay leaders and church teams seeking to break out of established patters of thinking and develop a broader vision of what the church of the 21st century can do and be.

Paul Nixon is a pastor, coach and ministry strategist and student of culture. Paul has been coach to the fastest growing mainline Protestant church in the United States (Embrace Church Sioux Falls) as well as many other creative ministries.

Paul is co-creator of the Readiness 360 tool which helps churches measure and cultivate their capacity for multiplying ministry. More than 1000 American congregations have used the 360, with hundreds more coming along each year, generating one of the best databases on church vitality anywhere. (READINESS 360)

Author of seven books, Paul teaches in all sorts of venues from online cohorts to regional seminars to a course at Wesley Theological Seminary.
