Leading Adaptive Change with Your Congregation

Successful organisms adapt to their changing environments; becoming sustainable in the process. North America is currently a high change environment for congregations. At the same time, our world is hungry for faith communities based on the love of God expressed through Jesus Christ. Congregations are living in the tension between the world’s needs and the church’s culture.

This learning experience will engage our context as we find it, considering how to shift ourselves so that we can adapt well. Participants will engage:

• Learning which raises our awareness about our current ministry context
• The Developmental Response Continuum which informs us about our congregation’s journey
• Stories of adaptive and non-adaptive congregations
• The Key Practices for cultivating healthy adaptive change
• A framework for identifying your congregation’s next steps in pursuing God’s calling in your context

Mark Tidsworth is focused on the intersection of faith and culture. Starting Pinnacle Leadership Associates, Mark serves as its President. Mark and eight Pinnacle Associates provide coaching, consulting, and training to clergy, church staff, and congregations of various Christian denominations. Mark is a frequent speaker, conference and retreat leader, as well as leadership coach and consultant. Three books are the result of Mark’s writing so far: Shift: Three Big Moves For The 21st Century Church, Forty Days of Prayer, and Disciple Development Coaching. Mark is married, with three children, and lives in Columbia, SC, where Pinnacle is headquartered.
