A MESSAGE FROM OUR LEADERSHIP Dear
Friends in Christ, What a joy it is to be a part of the heritage of the Wisconsin
Conference of the United Church of Christ, and particularly to be the recipients
of the legacy of two of the most gifted leaders in the history of the United
Church of Christ, The Rev. Dr. Ralph P. Ley and The Rev. Dr. Frederick R. Trost. It
is appropriate that we honor them through this SPECIAL GIFTS CAMPAIGN that will enable us to build on the strong
foundation that they established and advance the ministries
of the Wisconsin Conference and United Church Camps, Inc. I am privileged to have known and worked with both Dr. Ley and Dr. Trost
and have been the beneficiary of their wisdom, their kindness, their leadership,
and their faith. I know many of you have as well. Their
extraordinary commitment to the vocation of ministry remains a model and a
challenge for us all. I invite you to invest in carrying forward the wonderful heritage these
two servants of Christ handed to us and to help us build up ministries in the
Conference that will give their history lasting meaning and impact in our common
life. Please join me in supporting the handing on of a beautiful legacy, gifts
of the Holy Spirit through the ministries of Dr. Ley and Dr. Trost. Faithfully yours, David S. Moyer
We have two purposes to our Special Gifts Campaign.
At the Conference Center we wish to name the Conference Center the "Frederick R. Trost Center." This Center was so clearly the vision of Dr. Trost and so embodied his forward - looking leadership, that this naming is an appropriate way of expressing our appreciation. In addition to the naming of the Center, with appropriate signage, we are going to restore a portion of the beautiful natural area of the property to a native prairie setting. The development surrounding the Conference Center is intense and we will soon have one of the last remaining green areas in this part of the Windsor/DeForest community.
