Wisconsin Conference United Church of Christ 2016 Annual Meeting
Annual Meeting June 10-12 Pre-Conference Workshop June 9
Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.
(Common English Bible)
Join congregations from around the state at the 2016 Annual Meeting, as we explore together how to shift from a maintenance mindset to a mission mindset.
Keynoter Rev. Cameron Trimble of the Center for Progressive Renewal
will bring us insights into trendlines and how they impact the present
and future of our congregations. She will
also share uplifting examples of congregations around the country that
are shifting their ministry focus, and inspire us to think creatively
about our own ministries. More about Rev. Trimble>
This year's annual meeting will build on work being done by
congregations throughout the Conference seeking new approaches to
mission and ministry. Through small group sessions on Saturday morning
(June 11) we'll deepen our connections and learn about resources
available to support our efforts to move in new directions. Saturday
afternoon workshops will explore five areas of ministry that we believe will be the focal
point for most congregational SHIFT efforts. Attendees will gain valuable information to use in your home congregation.
Plan to bring a team from your congregation to Annual Meeting,
whether to work on your own SHIFT project or to share your experiences
and learn about what other congregations are doing. Register for the
entire weekend for the greatest value, or for Saturday only.
Also don't miss the Thursday WorkshopLeading Adaptive Change with Your Congregationwith Mark Tidsworth of Pinnacle Leadership Associates. You'll learn the key practices for cultivating healthy, adaptive change, and leave with a framework for identifying your congregation's next steps in pursuging God's calling in your congregation. This workshop is open to all; separate registration is required.
The Conference Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to gather with
friends from around the state in worship and song, in camaraderie and
fun, and to be the church. Participate in the social gathering on Friday
evening, view the exhibits - including "Bookstore Bob"! - and enjoy the
beautiful setting. Registration is open - make your plans now.

Thursday, June 9, 2016 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Green Lake Conference Center
Successful organisms adapt to their changing environments; becoming sustainable in the process. North America is currently a high change environment for congregations. At the same time, our world is hungry for faith communities based on the love of God expressed through Jesus Christ. Congregations are living in the tension between the world's needs and the church's culture.
This learning experience will engage our context as we find it, considering how to shift ourselves so that we can adapt well. Geared to both clergy and laity, participants will engage:
Learning which raises our awareness about our current ministry context
The Developmental Response Continuum which informs us about our congregation's journey
Stories of adaptive and non-adaptive congregations
The Key Practices for cultivating healthy adaptive change
A framework for identifying your congregation's next steps in pursuing God's calling in your context
